The mission of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless is to eradicate homelessness from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and ensure that everyone has a place to call home. It aims to meet this mission through the following goals:

- To advocate with and for people experiencing homelessness or those at risk of homelessness in areas of public policy, including but not limited to: the availability of decent, accessible, affordable housing; adequate income maintenance programs; medical care; mental health services; social services; job training and employment
- To develop and maintain a network of members and supporters, and to provide technical assistance and coordination through our policy committees
- To provide public education about the problem of homelessness and its solutions:
- To organize people experiencing homelessness in order to empower them to advocate for themselves in public policy matters, and to assume a significant role in the decision making structure of the Coalition
- To advocate for legislation that will be supportive of the needs of people experiencing homelessness or those at risk of homelessness
- To operate a Furniture Bank to assist households in moving from shelters to homes of their own, and to provide material assistance to programs that serve people experiencing homelessness
